Sugarhouse Victorian Airbnb - 936 E 1700 S

I like to go on about how lucky I am in my job to look at cool old houses. I’ve always loved history, getting to tour old homes and, trying to uncover some of their stories. It is so interesting to me. I got to take a client through yet another of these beauties recently and will show it to you too!

This is 936 E 1700 S, a Victorian-style home in the Sugarhouse neighborhood of Salt Lake City. It was built in 1891 for Byron Cummings, the first dean of the School of Art and Science for the University of Utah. Sometime in its history, it was used as a bed and breakfast. This is especially apparent on the second floor. Each bedroom comes with its own bathroom. Currently, the home has been used as an Airbnb. The first two floors are rented as one, large unit, the attic space is a cool studio, and there is another studio separate from the main house at the back of the driveway.

The best part of the property though is the details. I’m sure I sound like a broken record here, but, truly, the details of these historic homes are what make them so unique and interesting.

You’ll have to look at the pictures because my words will never do them justice. From the brickwork, to the doorbell (I drool over the doorbell), to the staircase and newell posts, to the fireplace, and so much more. I’ve got some pictures below that will enlarge if you click on them. There are more pictures on utahrealestate.com/1973610 if you want to take a look there too.
