Cost vs Value - What Projects are Worth Your Time and Money Before Selling?

When you’re getting ready to sell your home you always go through the thought process of what projects need to be completed to get top dollar for your home. For example, according to the 2018 Remodeling Cost vs Value study, a midrange, major kitchen remodel will on average recoup you about 58.9% of your cost to do the remodel. And a minor, midrange kitchen remodel will recoup you 77.6% of your investment. Here’s a table of the items in the study:

The numbers above are not always hard and fast. Sometimes adding a bathroom or a bedroom or remodeling a kitchen could be worth every penny. It can vary case by case. The best way to know which projects should be tackled prior to selling your home is to have your real estate agent (me) come over to your home to walk through it with you. I can help you prioritize what is important and worth your valuable time and money, and what isn’t.
