797 11th Ave - Mid-Century Masterpiece

I toured a mid-century modern home in the upper avenues last week. I loved it so much. This is a love-it-or-hate-it style and I am definitely on the love-it side. That being said, I’ve seen some mid-century homes that are very blah - they haven’t been taken care of, or when they’ve been updated all features that make it a mid-century home have been erased. The owners of this home have embraced the original style of this home and underlined it with its updates. I cannot stress how much I love these strangers for their care of this home.

From the moment I walked in I knew it would be good. Their furniture was perfection. You can see the coffee table below. Everything was that good.

There’s a picture of the stair railing below too. I didn’t get it in a picture, but they even matched that pattern in the metalwork to the stair runner! All the doors are original and there are some original light fixtures here and there too. The living room and front bedrooms also have floor-to-ceiling windows that take advantage of that “Upper Avenues View.”

Then you start to look at their updates. They did such a great job of not just keeping the old, but showing it off in a very modern style. You see it with the fireplaces with the original stone and new quartz wrap upstairs and the wood wrap downstairs.

You also see it in my most favorite spot - the kitchen. All the cabinets are excellent and original. They kept them and added a waterfall quartz countertop that showcases them so well.

Take a look at the pics and let me know your thoughts!
