Salt Lake City's Fix the Bricks Program
/If you live in Salt Lake City and you own a home that was built before 1975, you may qualify for Salt Lake City’s Fix the Bricks program. This program offers funding to help pay for seismic updates to the home. That means they reinforce the brick to make it more likely to survive if there is an earthquake.
The program will pay up to 75% of the cost of the updates. This type of work often costs around $20,000 so a 75% discount is significant and makes it much more possible for homeowners to protect their homes.
The downside is the waiting period. At current funding levels, the wait is about ten years. But if funding increases in the future, that timeline will change.
